‘How can a new urban centre be designed to prevent gentrification whilst remaining profitable?’
For this project I worked with the existing community and an existing proposal by SRF to propose a masterplan scheme for the new commercial district for the Northern Gateway, and create a mixed use (health and home), landmark building.

Creating a place of health and social infrastructure removes stigma and fear of health-care facilities, reducing social isolation and establishing a healthier community. Health of Manchester residents is amongst the worst in the countries – the aim of this project is to remove socio-economic inequalities within healthcare and housing.
In January 2020 I attended several community engagement meetings in Collyhurst with the intention to ascertain an understanding of the needs, desires, plans and structure of the existing Collyhurst community to be implemented in the masterplan and individual building design proposal.
The Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust published a self-declared maintenance plan SDMP for Manchester Healthcare 2018- 2023. The aims set out by the SDMP creates a framework for both the concept and design of this project as a mixed - use social housing and health and well being centre.
